For many people today, cooking appears to hard for them."Why would one go through the hassle of grilling a burger when you can stop by a McDonalds for a 'freshly prepared' Big-Mac?", someone might ask. There are many counterarguments to that statement with the first being: do you really think that 1100 calorie grease bomb is 'fresh'?
The second argument is that cooking doesn't always have to be difficult or even challenging in the slightest with enough practice. Cooking can be fun once you take the first step towards the stove and one step away from the microwave. I've heard it all when it comes reasoning why it's too 'hard' cook including:
- "I don't have any time in the day to cook for myself"
- "I'm too lazy to cook for myself"
- "I'm scared to mess up and waste food"
- "I might get burned or injured"
To all those arguments, I say phooey! I used to think the exact same way until I started trying recipes myself. I'm quite the lazy guy at home and find myself reaching for the Xbox controller more often than the pan or spatula. However, being in the kitchen and putting effort into my own meals feels amazing to say the least. While it might take effort, that effort only makes the end product all the more rewarding. For those of you out there still doubting yourself, i'll leave you guys with a couple points:
- Your meals will only taste as good as want it to taste (no work=no flavor)
- Take 30 minutes out of your day to experiment cooking, everyone has a half hour they might find useful for trying out new meals
- Start out small, no one got started cooking 5-star meals
- Cook what you love, not what's on T.V
- Look for inspiration anywhere and everywhere, you never know who might have the next star dish
